After spending three weeks in the hospital, a large portion in the ICU in a coma on a ventilator I had lost 42lbs and a lot of muscle. The ICU MD said he feels everyone over 40 should be using this to reduce muscle loss. I started using this and at about 8 weeks noticed a huge difference in my calf muscles, at about 12 weeks my quads were so much stronger. This is a real deal supplement that your body already creates to repair muscles and this made a huge improvement in my recovery. 1 pill three times a day.

Capsules are just too big. I feel like it works, but id rather take 5 smaller capsules than these 3 giant ones.

I love muscle tech products. They’ve been around for many decades now, and I trust their research..I unfortunately did not read the label thoroughly and it appears that this is a two week supply.42 capsules/ 3 times a day.

I picked up these Muscletech HMB softgels to help with recovery and muscle growth during my workouts. I’m an advanced lifter and was stacking this with creatine and other supplements (protein, BCAAs, etc.), so it’s tough to isolate the effects, but I did notice my recovery time seemed better and I felt less sore after intense sessions. That matches up with what I’ve read, there’s medical evidence that HMB can help with recovery and protein synthesis, and it’s sometimes recommended for preventing muscle wasting as well.As for big muscle gains, I honestly didn’t see a huge difference. Maybe you’d notice more if you took it for a year or two, but in my experience (and at my training level), it wasn’t a miracle worker for muscle growth. Could be I’m just at a plateau, or it could be diet, but if you’re looking for a magic pill, this probably isn’t it.The pills are softgels, easy to swallow, but have a slightly odd taste and texture. None arrived broken (which can happen with liquid softgels). No stomach upset or other issues.Bottom line: I’m giving this three stars because I did feel it helped with recovery, but didn’t notice major gains in muscle mass. If you’re stacking supplements and want something that may help speed up recovery and prevent muscle loss, HMB is worth a try, but don’t expect overnight results.

As one of the only free acid versions, I can feel an absolute difference. I am 43, and I use this for its anti catabolic effect. I don't make it to exercise hardly ever, and I work a ton. It helps me sustain quite well what I naturally achieve, and helps with pain and recovery. Maybe this is your situation too. Also this goes on sale often enough to fit my budget. I'm one of those who usually can't afford the list price, so I am giving five stars in that they do sell it affordable for me often enough which I highly appreciate and hope they don't stop doing. It seems like they are studying the speed at which they sell at varying prices, and they may find the median. But HMB is amazing for older active folks like myself. I have tried other brands, especially when this price inflated late last year, but none worked as well. To me, Muscletech is a fair priced brand that delivers legitimate quality products. Now, I did use this also a few years back when I did work out waaaaay more often, and I remember vividly that I had substantially more gains when using HMB FA, whether before after or during; no difference. Seemingly it is more about the anti catabolic effects and the recovery, than it is about performance, which it will inadvertently affect by reason of the former.
